The 3008
The new 3008 is Peugeot’s latest model and its advanced engineering and environmental responsibility perfectly embody the brand’s philosophy for the future in this 200th anniversary year. An SUV of a different kind, the 3008 is a modern, high performance vehicle that is economical and luxury car-like in its handling and refinement.
The two vehicles making the journey are XSE 1.6 litre HDi models featuring the 6-speed electronically-controlled semi-automatic gearbox with Electronic Gearbox Control (EGC), delivering maximum power of 80 kW at 4,000 rpm. This HDi engine with a capacity of 1,560 cm3, complete with diesel particulate emission filter (FAP), is characterised by its liveliness and flexibility in use with a maximum torque of 240 Nm from an engine speed of 1,750 rpm (or 260 Nm with overboost).
Built to an ambitious specification in terms of precision, robustness and compactness, the EGC is an intelligent gearbox which ensures maximum driveability.
The EGC eliminates the need for a clutch pedal and is therefore an economical alternative to a traditional automatic gearbox with its two modes: manual or automatic. This highly responsive gearbox allows the driver to change gear at any time by actuating the paddles placed behind the steering wheel.
Able to change gear on its own, the EGC will meet the expectations of those who prefer stress-free driving. In automated mode, the electronically-controlled gearbox maximises fuel economy compared to a traditional manual gearbox thanks to its electronic management which chooses the optimum time to change gear.
In the final analysis, this engine and transmission combination offers an excellent combination of willing performance and low running costs. Its fuel consumption in the combined cycle is just 5.1 litres/100 km, while emitting 135 g/km of CO2.
The 8,500 kilometre event that is The Peugeot 3008 Redex Tribute will be a perfect celebration of Peugeot’s impressive global and local history while showcasing the innovation and technology which will take it into the future.
