GOT A QUESTION?

Chassis and engine adjustment controls, exhaust sound, suspension, braking, etc. All these technological features are brought together to embody the essence of the sporty spirit as seen by PEUGEOT Sport.

HONED PERFORMANCE

THE EPICENTRE OF EFFICIENCY AND PERFORMANCE

To extract the full potential from its chassis, the PEUGEOT 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport houses under its bonnet the THP 270 S&S (Stop and Start) petrol engine with cutting-edge moving parts: forged aluminium pistons, segmentation and reinforced connecting rods, connecting rod bearings with polymer projection, reinforced connecting rod screws.

Taking advantage of all our engineers’ expertise, its 200 kW power and its 330 Nm torque are perfectly dosed, even at top speed, thanks to the specific design of the wastegate control valve (or turbo spill valve).

FORGED FOR ENDURANCE

To cope with the high levels of torque, which top out at 330 Nm, the six-gear manual gearbox has been strengthened. Its two shafts are now shot-blasted and the pinions are surface-hardened by deep carbonitriding.

This thermo-chemical process strengthens the part, in terms of resistance to both wear and fatigue, by increasing its carbon and nitrogen content. Finally, the shaft emerging from the box has been shortened to assist acceleration.

SPORTS CAPACITIES

With high endurance at every level, the new PEUGEOT 308 GTi offers remarkable capabilities. Held in place by four-piston callipers with a diameter of 38 and 41 mm, the 380 mm front brakes are ventilated and fitted on an aluminium bowl. The 268 mm diameter rear brakes are precise and effective.

TAMING ALL TYPES OF TERRAIN

The entire vertical suspension at the front has been specially designed, combining the following:

  • bespoke spring stiffness
  • a calibrated shock absorber with a hydraulic damping stop designed to limit noise
  • a progressive bump stop that's been stiffened and extended so as to begin working the moment compression starts at times when the driver is the only one aboard.

To ensure a better match with the rear axle, the anti-roll bar is more malleable. On the rear axle, the stiffness of the cross-beam and filters has been boosted, rising from 30 to 500 daN/mm along the lateral axis and from 170 to 490 daN/mm along the vertical.

A PRECISION MECHANISM

TORSEN® LIMITED-SLIP DIFFERENTIAL

The Torsen® limited-slip differential is an exclusive feature of the GTi 270, incorporated into the gearbox for more dynamic cornering. This channels torque to the wheel with the most grip, allowing the driver to accelerate earlier when coming out of a bend.

Meanwhile, the wheel is relaying precise data, and the car faithfully executes every turn initiated via the compact steering wheel.

RECREATING THE FINEST ROUTES

The new 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport offers maximum grip with its wide tracks (1570 mm at the front and 1554 mm in the rear), fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 235/35 R19 tyres that provide optimum durability thanks to the effort made to slim down the pseudo-McPherson front axle.

The deformable torsion-beam rear axle completes the creation of perfect balance combined with extreme lightness.
