SAFETY
People come first with us. That's why we've taken all the features you can't see on the 308 as seriously as those you can. With braking and protection systems derived from the latest technologies, the new 308 ensures that you and your passengers are protected effectively.
LDWS system
The Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)* detects any unintentional change of lane at speeds of over 80kph and alerts the driver via a vibration system installed in the Peugeot 308 SW seat cushion. *Availability varies according to model
ABS / ESP technology
The new 308 possesses the very latest safety technologies as standard. These include: ABS: anti-lock braking system EBFD: electronic brake force distribution which varies the amount of brake force applied to each wheel helping you retain the ability to steer EBA: emergency brake assistance which detects when you are trying to execute an emergency stop and automatically applies maximum stopping power ESP: electronic stability program which intervenes when under or over steer is detected by applying brakes to individual wheels and reducing engine torque to get the skid under control ASR: anti-slip regulation traction control which prevents the loss of traction of the driven wheels and therefore maintains control of the car when excessive throttle is applied
5 Star EuroNCAP
The Peugeot 308 obtained, in 2009, 5 stars in the Euro NCAP* tests for the protection of adult vehicle occupants, which is the level of "excellent" and the maximum that it is possible to achieve. *European New Car Assessment Program, an independent body assessing vehicle safety
Airbags
When involved in a collision, a complete suite of passive safety measures are activated to protect the occupants of the Peugeot 308. Shocks are absorbed through the collapsible steering column and the passenger safety cell of the car has been designed to limit the intrusion of the engine into the cabin. The front seat belt pretensioners are pyrotechnic devices to keep you firmly in your seat and a total of 6 airbags protect the passengers.
PEUGEOT CONNECT SOS
With Peugeot Connect SOS*, Peugeot has put emergency call services within everyone's reach. Should your pyrotechnic seatbelts or airbags activate, your vehicle will automatically put out an emergency call. Peugeot Connect SOS locates your car, establishes telephone communication with you and requests that the appropriate emergency services be sent out. You can also call Peugeot Connect SOS manually if you are involved in or witness an emergency. *Current available in ten European countries, with a 12-country footprint scheduled for 2011.
