The Wagon is back – Peugeot 308 Touring demand soars

1st December, 2014

In just its first month on sale, Peugeot’s all-new 308 Touring has exceeded forecast demand expectations by 300 per cent - proving that the stylish and practical wagon is back on the radar of Australian motorists.

Featuring 625 litres boot space (1,480L with seats down), the 308 Touring offers far greater cargo area than some of its larger wagon and mid-size SUV counterparts.

The 308 achieves this while attaining fuel use as low as 5.0 litres per 100 km for the 2.0 litre turbo diesel.

National Marketing Manager for Peugeot Australia, Dimitri Andreatidis, said that the 308 Touring’s driving dynamics, practicality and five-year capped price servicing have been key to its popularity.

“Initial sales of 308 demonstrate that Australian’s affinity with wagons hasn’t disappeared, with customers attracted by car like driving dynamics and SUV practicality,” said Andreatidis.

“We believe that this trend will continue into the future, particularly with the forthcoming arrival of our new 1.6L drivetrain variants next year,” said Andreatidis.

The 308 Touring is currently available with a 2.0L turbo-diesel drivetrain, developing 110kW of power and 370Nm of torque.

Joining the range in the first quarter of 2015 will be a new 1.6L, petrol-turbo, four-cylinder drivetrain developing 110kW and 240Nm of torque.
